As a consulting modern workplace engineer, I find myself in some interesting places. Not in the same way a policemen or health inspector but interesting from an IT perspective and I love it. I have to move from business to business and apply different knowledge and skill sets as the moment requires.
I am lucky to currently be working with a couple of incredible IT teams for different clients on different projects at the same time. By incredible I mean they are very talented but also not the slightest bit threatened by outsourced help. They have been extremely welcoming and not at all hesitant to share their deep knowledge of the business workings and requirements.
I kind of liken it to Cloud resource “scale out” and “Scale In”. I am there to offer additional resource as well as skill sets when needed, offer my experiences learned across many different sectors and apply it to best assist them. This is a far cry from years gone past when internal IT departments feared and resisted contractors as enemies that were there to steal their jobs.
I applaud the teams I am currently working with; you know who you are 😉. After we finish smashing the current projects out of the park, I look forward to teaming up with you again in the future.
