Are you having a bad week, are you struggling to get ahead of Family commitments, project work, Consulting creativity, study and assisting BAU with supporting new technologies?
This is normal for Modern Workplace engineering. I do not think it’s possible to be an expert in everything we are required to do, technology just moves too fast and we still have a life to live.
Personally, I have let go feeling I must know the in and outs of supporting server operating systems that are 5 yeas into their 9 year support cycle. I want to know how the latest services and systems are going to solve current business challenges.
I spend time putting the latest services through their paces so I can hand on heart commit to a client that it does what the box says.
Are there going to be issues, well yeah there are, but I back myself to work through it and my clients know it too.
Remember it is the type of person you are that makes the difference. You can’t know everything… but you can and will make anything work!
For me the key indicator is how well I am sleeping, if I am at the point I just can not shut down at night then its time for a break... and it does not have to be from normal work and play. Its just the silly stuff, its the... hey we have promised this thing that no one here has done before, can you do it?
Yes you can, but only if you are firing on all cylinders... remember it's ok to say "No" some times.
